This piece is for those who believe in the beauty of handmade and the power of cloth to tell stories. In this age of fast fashion, watching the slow process of making fabric by hand is almost meditative. There is an entire army of rural artisans behind creating this work of art, which is the consequence of hundreds of hours of intensive craftsmanship. Each is one of a kind, ethical and produced in a small batch; truly a fabric with a soul!

TEXTILE STORY
Presenting a contemporary take on an old traditional art form from Chettinad, a village in South India that makes classic pieces of 'Athangudi' tiles. Beautiful and timeless, these tiles are handmade and influenced by the deep rooted culture of the people of Karaikudi. As a pride of their origin, almost all the Chettinad households use these exquisite blocks of concrete for adorning their homes. The colour palette was inspired by a sunset drawing done by 'The Little Person'. She adores sceneries, and keeps urging me to use her paintings in my work. So, this time I succumbed, but decided to do them on a black background instead. When she saw the final outcome, she happily retorted, “ You changed the sun to a geomteric star in spacetime”! She now has a huge list of paintings up her alley! More explosions of colour coming your way.  Watch Bachchu breathe life into the design in the visuals.
